PANI is the acronym for a Social Welfare programme that works with street children in San José. One programme offers academic classes to these children in the San José school. After classes, the students may choose from a variety of programmes that will teach them a trade or skill that may help them after graduation. The students who wish to learn soldering and welding take classes under the guidance of its most creative teacher, Guillermo Esquivel. The end product of the workshop is little insects and animals made from used car parts donated to the programme. While the students are learning something that will serve them in the future, they will also have the satisfaction of creating these whimsical pieces and earn money that will go into a foundation for their benefit.
