Maleku

Maleku

MALEKU: This tribe has one of the smallest populations of all Costa Rican tribes – an astounding 500 people. Yet culturally, it is one of the richest tribes, if one measures cultural integrity by the general use of one’s native language, the strong presence of dance, ritual, storytelling, songs and customs.

They are located about 1 hour North of Arenal volcano and we are fortunate to be able to offer overnight or day tours to meet Maleku families enabling visitors to be privy to their rich heritage.

Medicinal plant knowledge, guided tours to sacred sites, dances and craft making etc. are just some of the activities that one will experience during one's stay. For more information see section on Eco-Ethno Tours.
