An oversize depiction of a tribal (Maleku tribe, Northern Plains, Costa Rica) clan fishing during an annual collective outing that has been celebrated since ancient times and which, still, today is faithfully practised in certain spots along the Frio River every year in Maleku territory in the north of Costa Rica. Catalina Elizondo, the artist, is also known for her work with 'jicaras' (traditional gourd-like water containers) decoration. River and forest lifeways are still the social and cultural mainstay of today's Maleku people
