      Traditional 'diablito' - Alter-ego

      Traditional 'diablito' - Alter-ego

      $378.00
      Code: ITDM003
      Size: 18"tall / 9 ½” wide (46 x 24 cms)

Carved and painted balsawood, this traditional 'diablito' mask incorporates both a human face and the visage of the mask used in the annual and venerable tribal celebration: the 'danza/juego de los diablitos'. In the two Brunka tribal communities of Boruca and Rey Curre (southern Pacific watershed of Costa Rica) is where these remarkable masks are created and worn. The 'diablito', in actual fact, represents the Brunka people past and present - as this particular design hints at with a human native face beneath the 'diablito' mask. Artist: Bernardo Gonzalez
