Traditional 'diablito' - Tropical 'cedro' wood

Traditional 'diablito' - Tropical 'cedro' wood

      $360.00
      Code: ITDM004
      18" tall/9 1/4” wide (46 x 24 cms)

An intense rendering of the traditional 'diablito' mask, used in ceremony (the 'danza/juego de los diablitos') annually in the two Brunka tribal communities, Boruca and Rey Curre, in southern Costa Rica. The remarkable wood grain of this gorgeous cut of tropical hardwood, 'cedro', brings more intensity to the carved design and bas relief of Edixon Mora (Boruca village)'s mask.
